Corn Islands Legend: The Headless White Lady

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful white woman who had long yellow hair, she was an ambitious lady who always wishes to have lots of gold and plenty of jewels. One day while she was walking along the shore on the beach called Sand Fly Bay, she saw that a boat was arriving near that beach, as the boat got closer, she notices that it was a pirate ship. As the ship arrived at the shore, a pirate got out and said to the lady: What is a beautiful lady like you doing alone on this beach? And the women answer: I'm wishing that someday I could become rich and have lots of jewels.

So, the pirate said to the lady, I have lots of jewels, silver and gold, all that you could wish for. Would you like to become the keeper of my treasure until I return? So, the lady did not think twice, when she answered and said: yes, yes!

And the pirate cut off the lady's head and buried it along whit his treasure on that same beach so that she could take care of his treasure until he returns.

But up to this day, the pirate hasn’t returned, and that beautiful white lady with long yellow hair still waits on that same beach, for that pirate to return.

That is why some people can still see in the evening a lady without head walking the beach, waiting on that pirate to return to free her from that everlasting minding of his treasure.
