The Amazing Adventures of an Irish Sailor - John Roach (1784)

Summary

In 1784, an unusual publication appeared in Whitehaven, a small English port on the Irish Channel, written by a sailor named John Roach, who had traveled the Caribbean. In it, the author describes his long captivity in the jungles of Nicaragua, when he was captured and enslaved by the Ulwas and Kukras Indians who lived near the Bluefields Lagoon.

The following document is an extract of the chapters that mention Nicaragua, the Mosquitia and the Corn Islands. The file was recovered from the Enrique Bolaños Library and digitalized by Bank of America. It was translated into Spanish by Luciano Cuadra.
