The Corn Islands Virtual Library Launches Campaign to Preserve Our Historical Memory

Over the past decade, the team behind The Corn Islands Virtual Library has been documenting oral tales, books, conducting research, and archiving photographs, videos, maps, and much more. These collective efforts led to the founding of the library project and its launch on the internet a few years later.

Beyond being just an online space for likes or for sharing images and articles, our mission is to preserve who we are using digital tools and community collaboration so that our identity continues to live on in a world that keeps moving forward.

As a community-based initiative, we aim to archive as much as possible about the Corn Islands for academic purposes and to safeguard our historical and cultural memory.

Today, we are launching our campaign: “Preserving Our Historical Memory Together”

Through this campaign, we aim to expand our efforts by involving our community, those at home, on the mainland, and across the diaspora, to join us in supporting the archiving work of The Corn Islands Virtual Library and its Virtual Museum.

How to take part in this initiative?

By simply sharing with us photos, videos, documents, stories, or any information that can help ensure that future generations and anyone wishing to learn about our islands, our people, and our culture have access to this valuable heritage. All contributions will be properly credited.
