Corn Islands Legend: Coplin’s Coffin

In Coplin, a sector situated between the neighborhood of South End and Sally Peachie, those that roam this area at night would witness several paranormal events.

One of the most common ones was seeing a floating coffin. According to the tails of our ancestors, those that roamed Coplin would see a coffin flooding, going from one end to the next, as if there was somebody carrying it.

It is believed that this is the spirit of several men that died during a shipwreck on this side of the island and when trying to bury them the rest were killed by the island's native people.
